Recently a study was initiated at the Sportmedisch Centrum Groningen (Groningen Sport Medicine Centre), connected to the UMCG, entitled TOPPRO (Tendinopathy of Patella Pain Relieving Orthoses). The study investigates the effectiveness of a patella brace and sport tape on the experiencing of pain in cases of jumper’s knee. 140 athletes will respond to this research question over 1.5 years. Given the participation of two large sports associations in the project, the high prevalence of this injury and the substantial experience from earlier studies, there will be a great deal of interest in taking part in this new study.
Nea International bv is delighted that it is able to support the research group in this study by supplying the patella braces. TOPPRO is a follow-up to the pilot study in which the Push patella brace was already applied in cases of jumper’s knee.
